I’ve always loved anything creative. As a little girl I was either going to be an artist, a princess, or an England hockey player, so if you couldn’t find me on a hockey pitch I’d probably be out in the garden painting princesses. Luckily there is an industry that loves this, and in 2006, after my degree in Graphic Design I became a designer for Disney, nickelodeon and PIXAR creating children’s books for an international market.
I spent six glorious years designing in Bath for publishers, greetings card studios and a highly recognised product and stationery company where I learnt to hone my craft and become an expert in all things branded. I knew that brand was where my true skill-set lay. I loved developing the early stages of a new company or product, from the initial nitty-gritty of defining the philosophy and appeal, through to application of the style across a range of marketing material. I won licensing awards, design awards, and even had a No.1 Times Best Selling book – it was High School Musical, you might have heard of it?
Fast forward six years of designing for Disney, Transport for London, Marks & Spencer, Caroline Gardner and many more and it was time for me to go it alone – Design • Jessica was born.
Since then I have helped many businesses and charities with their branding and marketing, applying my very special creative touch to create on-brand designs from my studio. You can see examples on my portfolio pages.
I now live in the beautiful Chilterns, with my husband Eoin (un-paid studio-assistant and RAF pilot), along with two cheeky Blue Cross rescue cats Freya and Odin. You’ll often see them in my social media posts, doing their favourite pastime, sleeping! You’ll also spot a few military based companies in the portfolio pages. Since marrying my husband, I have specialised in military community-based business owners and charities, I speak the lingo! They come to me for the insider knowledge that I add to their marketing and I have been privileged to work with The Military Wives Choirs, RAF Brize Norton and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.
With help from the owners at FEN CIC I launched and manage the Forces Enterprise Network Business Community, that supports over 300 military business owners all over the UK, and hosts the new podcast – The InDependent Spouse – showcasing some of their amazing stories launched in July 2018.
